Picking up paint tonight. Got everything sanded last night:
So now it’s just a matter of taping, wiping down, and spraying. Weather this weekend may make it interesting.

Rust Repair?

Ya, typical Ford wheelwell rust.
Cut out the rust and welded in patch panels.

At least it wasn’t typical Ram rot. That’s whole bed sides...

Peek-a-boo! I see you!

Usually that’s as far as most people take the repair, if they even bother with welding new panels - I far more often see loads of cracking bondo and primer all around. That gets them through inspection, and that’s where the motivation seems to end.

Not usually one to half ass things. I cut out all the bad metal, spot welded in the repair panels, smoothed everything out. Now I just need to seal it, paint it, and it’ll be good as new.

Actually did my grandpa’s 06 Ram last year, which is when I started this. He took good care of his, so it had just started rusting, but for 200k on a Wisconsin truck, it still looked decent. Now it looks like new:

When you get done, will you fix the rusting cab corners on my S10?

You do good work!

You’re definitely the exception, or else maybe I just can’t tell all the jobs that are done right? Lol, nope there just aren’t very many.
Well done, seriously.

Thanks!
A job done right should not be noticeable , so it’s very likely you’ve seen plenty of repaired vehicles and never knew it.

Depends.
I have a lot of other things going, so it likely wouldn’t be for a while, but if you’re close by I could definitely take a peek at them.

Not related to this post, but I went to America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, WA today and snagged these.
Simply perfect, like it was just made.
